OAA Red as good as ever
Wednesday was the first league day of the season for baseball teams in the OAA Red, which annually is one of the top leagues in the county and the state.
However, judging by the games on Wednesday and the returning talent in the league, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better league in the area this year.
Sorry, Catholic League Central Division.
From top to bottom, the OAA Red is simply loaded with teams that have ace pitchers and top-notch hitters.
Lake Orion and Rochester Adams played a wild 9-8 extra-inning game on Wednesday (won by Lake Orion) and are two of the heavyweights capable of making a deep run in the state tournament. Same goes for Clarkston, which has most if its team back from a squad that made a regional final last season.
Troy Athens might have the best team its ever had, while Rochester and Auburn Hills Avondale are also good teams.
Stoney Creek, Oxford and Troy have the ability to compete as well, so in other words, there literally won't be an easy game in the OAA Red this season.
