Too much madness
Through the grapevine, Kosmo has heard the Michigan High School Athletic Association has considered expanding to four or five seasons to help move girls basketball up a few weeks so the playoffs for girls hoops can be played completely separate from the boys. The K-Man doesn't mind seeing girls and boys playoff game taking place at the same time, but given what's taking place this week not only for basketball, but all high school sports, maybe a little separation would be something to consider. There aren't many busier weeks in any preps season than the next week. Not only is there the district round of the state tournament for boys basketball teams and the regional round for girls teams, but also the hockey quarterfinals/semifinals/finals, the boys state swimming finals and also the individual state wrestling finals. It makes for great coverage and a great time of year for high school sports, but it's all also a little overwhelming as well. As long as a reasonable plan can be worked, maybe moving the girls basketball season up a few weeks, as well as some other sports, isn't such a bad idea.
