3 stars for Tuesday's prep action
Kosmo knows he has been gone for a while from this blog, but that's only because most teams have been gone as well so far this spring. Of course, they haven't been gone by their choice but rather have had to postpone games because of the hideous weather we've had. Fortunately, all that changed on Tuesday. We finally had some good weather, so Mother Nature is the ultimate star.
But since Kosmo is here to honor high school athletes and give them the credit, here are the 3 stars for Tuesday's prep action in addition to Mother Nature.
Third star
Aidan Cullen, Pontiac Notre Dame Prep baseball - A doubleheader proved to be two chances for Cullen to dominate, as he hit a home run in the first game of a doubleheader against Macomb Lutheran North and then went 3-for-4 with three RBI in the second game to help lead the Fighting Irish to a sweep.
Second star
Jenny Goethals, Rochester soccer - Kosmo isn't sure whether this is an uncharacteristic down year for a typically solid Berkley program, but no matter, scoring four goals and adding and assist is an impressive performance. That's what Goethals did for the Falcons in an 8-0 win over the Bears.
First star
Joe Plaskey, Brother Rice lacrosse - What a scene it must have been a Brother Rice on Tuesday. Having not lost to an in-state opponent in over 10 years, the Warriors were on the ropes in overtime against Novi Detroit Catholic Central. But the streak lived on thanks to Plaskey, who scored the game-winner to lift the Warriors to a heartstopping victory.
