Major statements by Athens/Southfield

Week 1 of the prep football season is in the books, and Kosmo was especially taken aback by the performances of two teams.
First, Kosmo was somewhat floored by how impressive Southfield looked in a 35-11 win against Farmington on Thursday.
The Bluejays certainly aren't a bad team, but the K-Man didn't think they could be anything near the state semifinal team they were last year. Maybe it's time to rethink t hat.
Southfield controlled a solid Farmington team, amassing more than 400 yards on the ground.
Wow. That's a lot of yardage against anybody, let alone a playoff team from last year that returned a good core of players.
The second team to make an impression on Kosmo was Troy Athens.
Last season, the Red Hawks got bombed in their season opener by Stoney Creek, 42-0. Worse, the blowout came at home.
Well, revenge was served on Friday as Athens went into Stoney Creek and left with a 17-7 win over a Cougars team that returned a good amount of players from last year.
No doubt, that's as good a debut as could be for Athens head coach Josh Heppner. Now, the Red Hawks will play their home opener on Friday against Clarkston. Should be a lot of excitement along John R. Road.

I'm baaaaack

Stretch. Yawn. Oh man, Kosmo thought he'd be waking up from his summer nap to summer weather, but lo and behold, it's gloomy and rainy outside. If the start of the high school football season wasn't tomorrow, your seer would definitely sleep in more.
Regardless, the K-Man is up and ready to kick off another exciting preps sports season. That means another of blogging on this forum, so get ready for more wit and wisdom (or stupidity, who knows) from your all knowing one. Thanks to spy Scott Burnstein for the wonderful job he did on his blog all summer, as well as Dave Pemberton. It's now time for Kosmo to get cranking on his blog. Enjoy!
