Get ready for state title No. 10

All season long, Kosmo had been gearing up for what was supposed to be the game of the year in the high school girls basketball season. It seemed a mortal lock that Birmingham Detroit Country Day and Detroit Community, probably the most talented teams in the state regardless of class, would meet in a Class B semifinal in Ypsilanti on Friday.
The teams met in the state final last year with Country Day winning, 46-40. Community was without a doubt Country Day's biggest roadblock to a 10th state title in school history.
Well, looks like the road to No. 10 is as clear as plastic wrap. Shockingly, Community was upset in a regional final by Dearborn Divine Child on Thursday. Divine Child got rocked by Birmingham Marian in the Catholic League final, yet somehow pulled off one of the bigger upsets in recent memory with a 48-46 win over Community.
As a result, look for Country Day to have little opposition on its way to another state crown. Then again, given what happened to Community, maybe Kosmo is speaking too soon.
