Hotbed again?
Last season was nothing short of strange for Oakland County girls soccer teams. It almost seems as if Armageddon had arrived. Girls soccer has without question been the best team sport for area schools, with at least one area team winning a state title for 20 straight years.
Unfortunately, that was before last year.
The streak ended since no county team won a state title, but if the first state poll released on Tuesday is any indication, area teams should be back in a big way.
The No. 1 teams in each of the four divisions were from Oakland County, with Rochester (Division 1), Birmingham Marian (Division 2), Country Day (Division 3) and Bishop Foley (Division 4) holding down the top spots.
Of course, state titles are decided in June, not April, but this could be a sign that last year was an aberration.
